Start your first project
The guided setup flow — describe the work, confirm the milestones and activities the agent proposes, and let it build the plan and both graphs.
A Crux project begins with whatever you already have — a site, a document, or just an idea in your head. Setup walks through four steps, and you approve the plan before anything is built.
Create the project
Click New project in the left sidebar and give it a name. Larger initiatives can be broken into Sub projects — workstreams that sit under a parent project — but a single project is the right place to start.
An empty project opens straight into setup. The rest of the workspace stays out of the way until it finishes, so there is only ever one thing to do next. View other projects at the top leaves setup if you need to; the project is still there when you come back.
Step 1 — Say what you are working on
The capture step has two parts.
Anything the agent should read first is optional but makes everything after it sharper:
| Input | Use it for |
|---|---|
| URL | A live site or page to read |
| Upload a file | Documents, transcripts, spreadsheets |
| Connect a source | Google Drive, Figma, and your other connected tools |
What are we working on? is the brief: describe the goal in your own words. This is what shapes the plan proposed next, so a sentence of real intent beats a title.
Press Draft the plan.
Step 2 — Confirm the milestones
The agent proposes the outcomes the project will be measured on, and shows its working while it thinks. Each one is a row you can change:
- Include or exclude with the checkbox — excluded rows grey out rather than disappear, so you can put one back.
- Edit the title and the outcome — what is true once this lands?
- Add milestone for one the agent missed, or the bin icon to remove a row.
- Regenerate to run the step again against the same brief.
Confirm milestones moves on. Getting this level right is cheap now and expensive two steps later, so it is worth the minute.
Step 3 — Confirm the activities
For each milestone you kept, the agent proposes the work that delivers it: activities with a kind (meeting, workshop, deliverable, audit, or other), a start and end date, and the to-dos that come with them. Include or exclude each one, rename it, change its kind, and adjust dates.
Confirm and build project starts the build.
Step 4 — Watch it build
The agent saves the plan, then hands the brief to two agents that run in view:
- The Research agent builds a research frame seeded with Questions, Assumptions, Evidence, and Gaps.
- The Experience agent drafts your first experience entities — the pages and features your sources imply.
Each task shows its own progress, and an expandable trace shows what the agents are doing as they do it. An orchestration layer links the two, so early experience entities already point at the evidence behind them.
When it is done, Open the project takes you in.
Where everything ends up
- Plan holds the milestones and activities you confirmed, with their to-dos — see How the plan fits together.
- Research holds the frame and its items.
- Experience holds the first entities.
All of it is ordinary content from here on: open it, edit it, ask questions about it. Nothing about setup is locked.
